Well... Since some weeks I'm a fan of the interactive game/chatside Second Life. I have joined some soc. dem. groups here, but I didn't yet make contact with anyone. The Labour Party in Second Life has 35 memebers. The PSE Parti Socialiste Europeenne in Second Life has 30 members.

Anyone of you comrades who join the Second Life will get this fancy t-shirt from me as a welcome gift.

For the first time in many years I did't demonstrate with you comrades in St Petersburg, but with the comrades in my new home town Helsingborg.

Traditionally, the speaches are made by a local profile of the party, and representatives for the different branches of the Labour movement. But in Helsingborg this year the only speaches were made by the former deputy of the European Parliament, Jan Andersson, the deputy of the Swedish Parliament Hillevi Larsson and the President of the local branch of the trade union umbrella organisation LO.

The national slogan of the First of May celebrations was "Jobs first!" The analysis of the failure in the elections of 2006 was that we didn't speak loud enough on how to ensure that people will have the posibility to make their living and get a deasent salary.

Hillevi Larsson made an original opening and closing of her speach by singing some traditional labour song. Here is a link to her speach in Swedish.
As you can see in the movie from the demonstration, the Swedish flag and the UN flag is in the front of the demonstration together with the red banner. This is an important gesture since the nationalists are trying to make it their symbol.

The police usually help directing the traffic during a demonstration. But this day there were busy keeping an eye on the more militant socialists and nationalists holding their demonstration in another part of the town, so we had to direct the traffic ourselves... The green bus in the picture is actually driving in the middle of the demonstation... At one moment the demonstration went by on each side of a car.

But I prefere anarchy in traffic rather than threatful polices in the streets.

Some of the more orignial outfits in the demonstration was comrade Stefan Eriksson, with the arrearance of an english gentleman on rolerblades. I also likes the campaing t-shirt for a new Swedish model (on the picture above) The Swedish model 2.0. It reminds me of the RSDSM t.shirt "Reset the system" that comrade Al gave me some years ago.

Here's the link to the local social democratic radio station FM Helsingborg 99,2, where you can listen to the speaches and watch a film from the demonstration.

Would you like to join a Swedish 1st of May demonstration?

For those of you who could't be here, there is a chance to join the (inter)national digital demonstration of the trade union Kommunal, organising the employees of hospitals, healt care centers and clening services. If you would like to write a stand, click on "Gå med i tåget". The message can be maximum 46 caracters and will be moderated.

Dear friends,

Since I didn't receive any employment contract for the next year, I will settle down in Malmo as student on the Master programme on Political Science and Pedagogy.

As soon as possible, I will connect with the other comrades in town to see if they feel like arranging some Russian information projects this autumn. Looking forward to interesting information from you.

See you in the fight
for fair elections and human rights!
I’ll try my best not to miss the polar nights… :-)

In the future the Second House of Sweden will offer real consular services. For now, it provides information on Sweden and has arranged an exposition dedicated to Raoul Wallenberg, who helped save thousands of Jews in World War Two.
